I am turning 65 soon. How do I know if I’m eligible for Medicare?
If you have worked 10 years or more in Medicare covered employment (i.e. paid FICA taxes), you will be eligible for Part A (Hospital Benefits) of Medicare at no cost to you.
What is Part B (Medical Insurance)?
Part B helps cover medically necessary services like doctors’ visits, outpatient care, home health services and some preventive services.
How much does Part B Cost?
If you have Part B, you pay a Part B premium each month. In 2015 most people will pay the standard premium amount of $104.90/month, however some people may pay more depending on their income level.
How do I sign up for Part A and Part B of Medicare?
If you collect benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board, you will automatically be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. If you are disabled, or turning 65 and are not receiving a Social Security Allotment, please contact Social Security at 1-800-772-1213, or click on the tab for resource links/Useful links and select Social Security Online for more information on how to sign up for Medicare.
